From Dramatic Above-Ice Aerials to Chiropractic
In one sense, Dr. Barbara Smith literally “fell” into chiropractic as her chosen career and life’s work. After a three year professional skating career, tragically, Dr. Barb suffered a major fall during one of her shows. While performing a dramatic maneuver forty feet in the air, her safety harness broke and she plummeted to the unforgiving ice below. Thus, her skating career was prematurely terminated.
Fortunately, Barbara’s recuperation and reflection period included on-going chiropractic adjustments which helped her to make a complete physical and emotional recovery.
And so, moved by her experiences and sheer determination, the twenty-three-year-old Barbara packed her bags and left for Dalhousie University with the long-term plan of becoming a chiropractor in order to help others just as she had been helped.
Dr. Barbara Smith uses traditional chiropractic techniques along with current evolving low force techniques, in particular Koren Specific Technique to locate the stress that you have been holding in the body for a very long time causing imbalances that have been missed in the past by other doctors. This includes physical, mental, emotional and chemical stress. Since then she has helped many patients with symptom reduction and recovery (see her professional portfolio).
“Most of all I love to see the joy that people experience when they are pain free, able to return to the activities they love and striving towards optimal health!” – Dr. Barb
